Questions and Answers

What time are Sunday worship services?
There are three choices for a Sunday worship service - 8:30 A.M., 8:50 A.M., 10:50 A.M. 
The Nursery is available for young children during Sunday morning worship.  The Nursery is located next to the Welcome Center.

 
What is the difference in these services?
The 8:30 and 10:50 A.M. services are traditional services held in the sanctuary.  These services incorporate many elements of the traditional order of worship for the United Methodist Church including the Apostles' Creed, Lord's Prayer, hymns, anthems, sermon, and the sacrament of Holy Communion served on the first Sunday of each month.

 
The 8:50 A.M. service, Faith Matters, is a contemporary service held in the Fellowship Hall of the Faith Center.  Faith Matters incorporates contemporary music and utilizes a band with praise singers.  Other elements include a sermon, drama, and multimedia as well as the sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month.

 
Is a nursery provided for all of the worship services?
There is childcare provided for all of  the morning  worship services. Greeters or ushers can provide directions to the nursery.

 
What are the Sunday School Class offerings?
Sunday School for all ages begins each Sunday at 9:40 A.M.

 

 
Where can I go to get answers to some of my questions?

 
On Sunday mornings the Welcome Center has greeters working from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. The Welcome Center is in the hallway leading from the main sanctuary area towards the Faith Center.  These greeters will be happy to provide answers to your questions and can direct you to a certain room in the church.

 
During weekdays the church office has a receptionist available from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. 

 
Where do I park and enter the church?

 
Parking is available at the northern portion of the church, as well as designated visitor parking near the entrance to the sanctuary.  There also is parking across the street from the entrance to the sanctuary as well as spaces on Whaley Street and Fredonia Street.
 
What should I wear?
At FUMC,  we are more interested in having you here than we are in what you are wearing.  In our congregation, you will find varying styles of attire - from dressed up to casual - and most commonly somewhere in between.  Please wear whatever you are most comfortable in and know that you are always welcome

 
Can I visit the church before coming on Sunday?
Absolutely!  Feel free to call the church office at (903) 753-4463, Monday - Friday from 8:30 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. to arrange for a visit.  You are welcome to stop by during office hours if you wish.  However, it is best to call first.
