How to Become a member of First United Methodist - Longview

First United Methodist is a body of believers united by the desire to Glorify God...Make Disciples of Jesus Christ! If you desire to join us and will be supportive of the beliefs, fellowship, and mission of the church, we enthusiastically invite you to become a member.

Here are the steps in becoming a member:

1. Present yourself for membership during any Worship Service when the invitation is given at the end of the service. The pastor will issue an invitation for those wishing to unite with the church to come to the altar during the departing hymn. The minister will then introduce you to the congregation and announce by what means you are joining.

2. There are three channels that people use in joining FUMC.
a. Profession of faith and baptism.
b. Transfer of membership/letter from another United Methodist

church.
c. Transfer of membership from another denomination.

3. Some people considering joining FUMC choose to make an appointment with a pastor or request a home visit from a pastor before they make the decision about membership. Please call the church office at 903-753-4463 if you wish such a meeting before deciding whether or not to join.
