Women
United Methodist Women (UMW) - The United Methodist Women's Chapter at First United Methodist Church is an active group of women who get together to enjoy fellowship, mission projects, studies, and lasting friendships. It is a diverse group of women including professional women, homemakers, and retirees. The UMW is a "community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Christ."
The UMW meet twice monthly with the general meeting being held the second Tuesday at the church and smaller sub-groups, called circle meetings, the fourth Tuesday in homes. The Night Circle meets at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday at the church.
Celebration Women's Ministry- is a woman-to-woman ministry of sharing, encouraging, disciplining, and mentoring in the faith. Its mission is to equip women to do the work of the ministry for the edification of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12) and to fulfill the great commission (Matthew 28:19-20). Its focus is presenting the truth and beauty of the message of salvation, healing, renewal and restoration in a manner that reaches the inner woman. Celebration serves as a covenant of grace for all women who seek to discover their freedom and healing in Jesus Christ through sharing in experiences of praise and worship, personal witness and testimony, prayer, small group Bible study and fellowship.
Open to all women regardless of denomination, cultural or ethnic heritage, Celebration exists to disciple women in their journey of faith so that they are drawn into an ever deepening relationship with God and live a joy-filled life. All are invited to join ongoing Bible studies and quarterly events at FUMC - Longview.
