Spirit of Longview
Spirit of Longview by Elvera Huff - 2006
Dedicated to the City of Longview, Jay Dean (Mayor of Longview 2006),
Paul Roberts (Director of Music Ministries), The Chancel Choir,
First United Methodist Church and Jack Huff.
East Texas finest city, blazen with hearts of beauty, kindness is
spoken everywhere. Duty and courage lead us, ever we strive
together, may we be guided by 'your' trust. We have the spirit,
we have the knowledge, we shall not falter, we'll forward strive!
There's beauty in this grand blessed city, it's Longview, Texas.
You're the place we love.
The heart is the family, busy happy families, rich with opportunities
galore. Work is our common goal, loyal to the tasks we hold, still
there is pleasure and vision too. The lakes and playgrounds, for
leisure living, there's Alley Fest and the balloon race too. The Fine
Arts Concerts top the offerings, for life in Longview, we will share
with you.
Springtime brings daffodils, iris of many hues, redbuds are making
their show too. Lovely the tulip trees, matchless the dogwood
scene, aren't the azaleas beautiful too! In summer roses, and bright
day lilies, there are crepe myrtle, gardenias too, but most of all we
see the pine trees, East Texas landmark such a lovely view.
God bless you Longview, Texas, faith guided loyal people,
counting their blessings every day. Helping their fellow friend,
needs of the common men, guiding with truth and loving ways.
Results from duty, bring work accomplished. From hope and caring,
a bright beam shines. Let's find a rainbow goal for living. God bless
this city, Longview, U.S.A.
