Stock & IRA Giving

Would you like to donate some stock and avoid capital gain taxes? Check with your financial advisor to determine if donating stock would be advantageous for you.

Stock may be donated to FUMC Longview by transferring investments to the FUMC brokerage account.  Please contact Bruce Cammack at RBC Wealth Management 903-753-5343.

Did you know the IRA Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) can be made directly to FUMC, which is a qualified charitable organization, and avoid adding the RMD as taxable income?

If you have an IRA and must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), you may have your 2020 RMD sent directly to FUMC as a qualified charity. The donation will count as your RMD but won’t increase your adjusted gross income, which can be advantageous for tax purposes. As always, prior to making any IRA withdrawals you should consult with a qualified tax advisor or certified financial planner for advice and requirements regarding this legislation and your tax situation.

To insure the donor it properly identified for stock donations or IRA giving, please inform the FUMC finance office at 903-753-4463 prior to giving.
